The reigning champions of Ultimate Survival Alaska return, hoping to claim the prize for the second year in a row. Once again at the helm of Team Endurance, veteran champion Dallas Seavey leads his new teammates who, while new to the competition, are far from rookies when it comes to cold-weather survival. But Dallas will need more than just his Iditarod-honed survival skills to lead his team to victory; he’ll have to strategically out-maneuver them as well as beating their speed.

Meet the two new members of Team Endurance – and catch up with a familiar face:

In addition to his bevy of skills, Ben is always willing to take on a challenge and has the skill set to prove it. Despite barely surviving a plane crash in the Yukon, being stranded in a crevasse for days and several near-miss avalanches, Ben still chases adventure, climbing as many mountains as he can.

Lel Tone

From serving as an instructor for the National Ski Patrol to consulting Eddie Bauer and First Ascent on the brands’ outerwear design, Lel has demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of every aspect of the mountain. When she’s not guiding Alaskan heli-ski expeditions, Lel competes in free-skiing competitions, professional mountain-bike races and elite-level paddleboarding competitions. How’s those for hobbies?

A brief rundown of Dallas’ credentials: he’s a two-time Iditarod champion, setting the race’s all-time speed record for his second win in 2014. He comes from a family of tough Alaskans, with his grandfather an Iditarod participant as well. The five months each year Dallas isn’t training for the race he spends managing a winter dog sled tour company. This is an adventurer who doesn’t shy away from the impossible; he once ran a marathon without training, just to test his strength. He’s back in full form this season to try and lead Team Endurance to the win.
